Schalkenbosch vineyards are situated high up on the slopes of the Witzenberg mountain range overlooking the picturesque Tulbagh valley. The soils are similar to those found in the Rhone Valley in France and enjoy a unique micro-climate. A late sunrise is due to the shadow of the mountain. Cool mists occur most nights, which when coupled with warm day time temperatures, create ideal conditions for the production of premium quality wines.

Schalkenbosch Wines

Schalkenbosch Wines are crafted from carefully selected, hand picked and sorted grapes which are vinified in the cellar behind the main house.

They are then barrel matured in the best French and American oak until they develop the intense flavour and colour which is synonymous with wines produced on our estate.

The Schalkenbosch label is reserved for classic wines of exceptional quality. These wines, taken from specially selected blocks are investment wines and should be stored under controlled conditions.

Edenhof Wines

Edenhof Wines are produced essentially for the European market. They are made in an easily accessible, “new world style” which makes them suitable for early drinking, although they will improve with appropriate storage and ageing.
